David Bowie–Drive-In Saturday

David Bowie was known to have a fierce sense of humour, but it was rarely so on display in his lyrics. A droll, doo wop paean to postapocalyptic copulation, the song features the full force of his wit. Starring a Twiggy dopplegänger and a bloke perpetually named Buddy (who I can only assume fixes the cable), the song deflates the glamour of sexual revolution. Bowie drives home the songwriting with a brash vocal performance that’s among the best of his career.
