Jay Z and Kanye West–No Church in the Wild

Collaborative tracks by rappers are a dime a dozen, but the idea of collaborative albums is gaining steam largely thanks to the blockbuster success of Jay Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne.  With the addition of Frank Ocean on No Church in the Wild, the trio settle upon a pulsing, serious-minded epic with each at their best.  Kanye produces a feral, foreboding track; Ocean lends smooth gravitas to an anarchic call to arms and Hova does some of the most striking self-mythologizing of his career.  It’s a heavy, essential track where two greats draw out the best in each other.
