John Lee Hooker–Mama, You Got a Daughter

The City of Angels soundtrack produced one of the biggest hits of the 90s in Iris by Goo Goo Dolls.  While the album was front-loaded with other major acts like U2 and Alanis Morrissette, it also did something of a service by exposing the twerpy teens that bought it to brilliant blues tracks by Jimi Hendrix and John Lee Hooker.  Mama, You Got a Daughter is a simple blues song on the surface, but that simplicity makes it that much easier to see the mastery, unique style and charisma that made Hooker one of the greatest performers and musicians the genre has ever seen.  In under four minutes, John Lee Hooker can imbue  you with the soul of American Music.
